According to this matrix, the group most affected from the language differences in China and India are first time travellers belonging to the age group of 41 to 80.
This means that even if they have the basic knowledge about the language there are chances of them not knowing how to communicate to the localites. Also as they are travellers and not immigrants, they wont learn the language in depth, which may lead to miscommunication due to the difference in tones.
However the estimates may vary according to the situations and can also be subjective to people.
